Windows MultiPoint Server 2012 (codenamed Windows MultiPoint Server "3") is the successor to Windows MultiPoint Server 2011 and the third release of Windows MultiPoint Server that was released to manufacturing on 27 November 2012[1] and later made generally available on 10 February 2013.[2] It is based on Windows Server 2012.
It was the last release of Windows MultiPoint Server as an independent SKU and was superseded by the MultiPoint Services role in Windows Server 2016 and later.
Windows MultiPoint Server 2012 adds the MultiPoint Dashboard which allows non-administrators to monitor and interact with user desktops of all stations on the server. It also adds the ability to create stations on virtual machines running the Premium edition of WMS 2012.
It added Disk protection which is a feature that can be deployed in WMS servers that discards all changes made to the server during user sessions and restores the server to its original state.
It also added the MultiPoint Server Connector which allows the monitoring of client computers running Windows 7 and Windows 8.
