macOS Catalina (10.15) is a version of macOS that was released on 7 October 2019. This version drops support that devices can update by replacing the graphic cards from OpenGL to Metal.

This version does not support 32-bit macOS applications. It is also the last version of macOS to use the major version number of 10. Most builds of Catalina were compiled for x86_64 (for public use) and ARM64 (for testing purposes for the transition to Apple Silicon, which would continue until the announcement in 2020).
