macOS Mojave (10.14) is a version of macOS developed by Apple. This version introduces some enhancements to the user interface, including a new system-wide dark mode. It also dropped support for non-Metal GPUs and Core 2 Duo (45nm), Nehalem CPUs. It is also the last version to support 32-bit applications. It is the last version of macOS to support OpenGL-fallback compositing in the compositor library (SkyLight.framework).

  • System-wide dark mode.
    • OS X Yosemite introduced dark mode, but only for the dock and menu bar.
  • Dynamic wallpapers, which change based on the time of day.
  • New accent colors, adding on to the existing "Blue" and "Graphite" options for the first time since Mac OS X Cheetah.
  • Recently used applications will now be displayed in the dock if they aren't already pinned.
    • Can be disabled in System Preferences.
  • Desktop stacks for organizing files.
  • Continuity Camera.
  • Enhancements to Finder.
    • Gallery view (replaces Cover Flow).
    • Metadata preview pane.
    • Quick actions.
  • Group FaceTime (Initially delayed).
  • Screenshot (replaces Grab).
  • News, Stocks, Voice Memos, and Home apps ported from iOS.
  • Redesigned App Store.
  • Software Updates moved to System Preferences.
  • Removed social media integration for sharing files.
  • APFS Fusion Drives.
  • Metal 2 and CoreML 2.
