Windows 11 build 27718 is a build of Selenium, the 25H2 development semester of Windows as a service. It was released to the Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel on 2 October 2024.

The following features and changes introduced previously have been gradually rolled out:
- Support of first letter navigation on the taskbar (initially implemented in build 22635.3930)
- Performance improvements to Narrator's scan mode (initially implemented in build 22635.3930)

Small design improvements (including updates to the icon sizes and spacing) have been made to the dialog that opens if there's something that needs attention before proceeding with a Windows update.
Settings[edit | edit source]
- A chart legend has been added below the battery usage graph under System > Power & battery. This feature is disabled by default, but can be activated manually by enabling the

velocity staging key. - The "Detach VHD" button in the VHD properties page under System > Storage > Disks & volumes in the Settings app, initially implemented in build 27686, has been temporarily disabled.
Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]
The enhanced privilege protection for Admin Approval Mode, initially implemented in build 26040, has been updated to Administrator protection. It provides an additional layer of protection against malware and other threats by isolating sensitive data and processes. The User Account Control elevation prompt has also been changed to reflect this feature. Administrator protection is disabled by default, but can be enabled manually by setting the "UAC: Configure type of Admin Approval Mode" policy under Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options to "Admin Approval Mode with Administrator protection."

Fixed an issue that was resulting in the Widgets icon unexpectedly displaying on the taskbar twice sometimes.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
- Enrolling to the Windows Insider Program on a new Copilot+ PC may cause Windows Hello PIN and biometrics to fail with the

("Something went wrong, and your PIN isn't available") error. - Text on highlighted items in Microsoft Management Console and some of its snap-ins may have a yellow color.
- Users may experience a hang at the boot screen and roll back with the

error when upgrading to this build. - Purchased content may not be played correctly in the Movies & TV app.
- The emoji panel and clipboard history may not open in certain Win32 surfaces, including in Microsoft Management Console, MSConfig and Registry Editor.
