Registry Editor (or Registration Info Editor in Windows 3.1x) is a configuration tool that is used to edit the Windows registry. In Windows 3.1x and Windows 9x, its executable name is regedit.exe
, while on Windows NT, it is regedt32.exe
. The 9x version was ported to the NT line with Windows NT 4.0. Both apps had differences in terms of design. In newer versions however, aside from the icons, which is on regedt32.exe
still the one from Windows NT 3.x, both are visually identical.
