Windows 11 build 22635.4082 is a build of Windows 11 2023 Update. It was released to Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel on 26 August 2024.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Start menu[edit | edit source]

The following features and changes have been implemented to the category view of All apps list (The view itself can be activated manually by enabling the 47205210, 48433719 and 49221331 velocity staging keys):

  • New functionality to show a basic tooltip with app name when hovering on an app within the category.
  • Update to the category mappings with minor subdivisions.
  • Small tweaks to the list view dropdown menu.

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • The media controls on the lock screen has been redesigned with Mica material and a more compact layout. Its position has also been moved to the lower bottom center of the screen.
  • A new option has been added to the ellipsis button within the notification and the "Notification Suggestions" section under System > Notifications in the Settigns app for turning off the suggestions to disable notifications from certain apps.

Settings[edit | edit source]

The redesigned Windows Update > Advanced options > Delivery Optimization page, initially implemented in build 27686, has been backported to this build and gradually rolled out. It can be activated manually by enabling the 33235889 velocity staging key.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue that was causing explorer.exe to crash sometimes when closing apps from the taskbar.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the Start menu to crash on launch sometimes.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing a memory leak after receiving certain notifications.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

  • Interacting with archive files may cause explorer.exe to crash.
  • Navigating to the File Explorer's home page may cause it to crash.
  • Subcategories within the category of All apps list may not functional correctly.
