Windows 11 build 22635.4145 is a build of Windows 11 2023 Update. It was released to Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel on 30 August 2024.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • The Microsoft 365 app will be pinned to the taskbar automatically for new user accounts on managed commercial devices.
  • The Windows Spotlight experience has been updated to include hotspots which reveal additional information on hover, together with a reduced flyout or a minimized Spotlight UI. This change is gradually rolled out, but can be activated manually by enabling the 52793632 velocity staging key with the variant parameter set to 1 (for hotspots with reduced flyout) or 2 (for hotspots with minimized UI).
  • The new Gamepad keyboard layout for the touch keyboard, previously implemented in build 22635.4005, has been gradually rolled out. It can be activated manually by enabling the 48433719, 50557073 and 50692135 velocity staging keys.
  • The ability to share content to Notepad and Clipchamp directly from the Windows Share flyout has been added. This change is gradually rolled out, but can be activated manually by enabling the 50968699 velocity staging key.
  • The ability to hide the Chinese and Japanese IME toolbar when apps are in full-screen mode has been gradually rolled out. It can be activated manually by enabling the 52303419 velocity staging key.
  • When there's no Internet connection, the "You're offline. Widgets are unavailable." message will appear at the bottom of the lock screen.

Start menu[edit | edit source]

  • The Sign out option under the ellipsis menu in account manager has been moved to the main view, and the Switch user option has been replaced with a drop-down list of users. These changes are gradually rolled out, but can be activated manually by enabling the 50564196 velocity staging key.
  • New "Information & Reading", "Games" and "Creativity" categories have been added to the category mappings under the category view of All apps list, which was previously updated in build 22635.4082.

Settings[edit | edit source]

  • The "Enhance pointer precision" option and the "Scrolling direction" dropdown menu (ported from the Mouse Control Panel applet) under Bluetooth & devices > Mouse, previously introduced in build 22635.4076, has been gradually rolled out. It can be activated manually by enabling the 48433719 and 51900073 velocity staging keys.
  • A new section has been added under Bluetooth & devices > Touch for configurating touch screen edge gestures. It's gradually rolled out, but can be activated manually by enabling the 48433719 and 51900073 velocity staging keys.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

A new Simplified Chinese font SimSun-ExtG, which consists of 9,753 ideographs supporting CJK Unified Ideographs Extensions G, H and I, has been included in this build.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

General[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue that was causing laptop to stop responding after resuming it from hibernate if users have closed and opened the lid many times.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Windows to stop responding when accessing symbolic links.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing external devices to lose their connection when deploying certain Bluetooth policies.
  • Fixed an issue that was preventing users from decrypting a BitLocker data drive when moving that drive from a newer version of Windows to an older version.

  • Fixed an issue that was causing File Explorer to crash when navigating or opening directly to Home page.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing explorer.exe to crash when interacting with archive files.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the navigation pane to not update when browsing folders that are in a shell namespace extension.

Start menu[edit | edit source]

Fixed an issue where the text might be unreadable in the section of the Start menu with Phone Link features shown on the side.

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue that was causing PIN reset to not work when selecting the "I forgot my PIN" link on the credentials screen.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing a memory leak when closing a window with input focus on a combo box.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

Clicking or tapping on a letter on Start menu's All apps list may cause it to break. Restarting explorer.exe may resolve this issue.
