So throughout the months of May and June 2024, I finally figured out how to emulate betas (and other releases that are not on PCjs) of Windows on PCjs!

All times are in EST (my timezone). The dates and times are for when I downloaded the disks, not emulating them. These dates are a difference mainly in Windows 1.0 DR5.

My emulator, PCjs, can only run DOS-based Windows (excluding Windows 9x, but including Windows 95 RTM).

I don't do OEM builds, including Windows 1.xx.

Here are the list of builds I emulated in order:

Fun Facts[edit | edit source]

Before I emulated Windows 1.0 Alpha Release on PCjs, I used the emulator in Internet Archive.

I emulated Windows 1.0 DR5 on a system with 2 hard disks, so for fun, I installed Windows 1.0 Premiere Edition on the other hard disk and accidentally found out that Clock from Windows 1.0 Premiere Edition can run on Windows 1.0 DR5.

Windows 3.1 build 071 is the first Windows beta I actually got running in Standard Mode.
