Windows 11 build 26120.1252 is a build of Windows 11 2024 Update. It was released to the Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel on 15 July 2024 as the KB5037898 enablement update to build 26100.1252 (KB5038603). It's the first build to be distributed as a checkpoint cumulative update that only contains incremental changes since the last cumulative update (build 26120.961).[1]

- New features and changes which had been rolled out in build 26120.961 during 28-30 June 2024 have been once again gradually rolled out.
- The following features and changes have been implemented:
- The additional quick status (sports, traffic and finance) beside weather on lock screen (initially implemented in Windows 10 build 19045.4233 and then Windows 11 build 22635.3420)
- The drag-and-drop functionality between breadcrumbs in File Explorer's address bar (initially implemented in build 22635.3420)
- The visual improvements to File Explorer's Home page (initially implemented in build 22635.3640)
- The ability to pin apps to the taskbar or the desktop by dragging them from the Pinned section in Start menu (initially implemented in build 22635.3785)
- The ability to show jump lists when right-clicking on apps pinned to the Start menu that have jump lists (initially implemented in build 22635.3785)
- Updates to Widgets entry point on the taskbar with clearer visuals and a larger set of animated icons (initially implemented in build 26200)
- The new "My Phone" button under the Nearby Share section in Windows Share flyout (initially implemented in build 26217 (ge_prerelease))
- Updates to the background color of flashing app icons on the taskbar (initially implemented in build 26241)
- The Phone Link companion panel in Start menu (initially implemented in build 26241)

- Fixed an issue that was causing the
KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE
bugcheck. - Fixed the underlying issue that was causing the
PcaSvc.dll
error with the message "Missing entry:PcaWallpaperAppDetect
" after performing an in-place upgrade from Windows 11 2022 Update or Windows 11 2023 Update.

Fixed an issue that was causing explorer.exe
to crash when navigating away from the Home page.
Shell[edit | edit source]
Fixed an issue believed to be the underlying cause of noticing stutters in some animations (dropping frames), particularly with Task View.
Input[edit | edit source]
- Fixed an issue that was causing a cyclical input crash build 26120.961 impacting various input experiences.
- Fixed an issue where the IME candidate list may fail to show or showed in the wrong position.
- Fixed an issue that was causing errors when attempting to use voice typing with certain languages such as Chinese.
Settings[edit | edit source]
- Fixed an issue that was causing the preferred audio volume (under System > Sound > Volume mixer) for Microsoft Edge to not persist across restarting the app.
- Fixed an issue where the System > Power & Battery page unexpectedly had duplicate text when showing a warning about a slow charger.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
- This build is labeled as a repair version in Windows Update.
- Navigating between different pages in Task Manager may lead it to crash.
- The Windows Update page in the Settings app may appear blank except for a red banner and More options section in certain languages.
- Adding additional languages or optional features may fail with the
0x800f081f
error. - Windows Sandbox may fail to initialize with the
0x80370106
error.
