Screen res[edit source]

Greetings.

I noted that you have uploaded many mac related screenshots, while it is very helpful, I also noted that in the guidelines it shows 1024x768 as the preferred resolution while yours are just 800x600. I remembered that when I installed some builds in emulators earlier, the resolution can be set to 1024x768.

I am not sure if it is proper for me to say such, but I'd like to leave this note here, have a good day, --CI611 (talk) 08:43, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Categories and line breaks[edit source]

Hello. I have noticed that you appear to create new pages for Mac OS builds, but don't appear to be adding them to their correct categories for their respective version. Categories are kept for the purpose of improving navigation, so I ask that for future pages on operating system builds, that you add [[Category:Mac OS 7 builds]], changing "Mac OS 7" to the correct name of the operating system (if the category appears red, then that's not the correct name).

I also recommend that you add line breaks before each | in the infobox templates to make it easier to read for future editors as well. You may want to review the source of other pages such as Mac OS 8.5.1 or Mac OS X Developer Preview 1 to learn more about the template's structure.

Thanks for the contributions, and keep it up! BF10 (talk) 16:32, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

I agree with BF10, however adding line breaks before each | in the infobox templates isn't possible if you use the visual editor. So, I also recommend you to learn how to create and edit pages using the source editor. NaraInsider1694 (talk) 01:58, 18 December 2022 (UTC)

Why do we put the infobox on top of the text itself in source editor? ClassicMacOSGuy1067 (talk) 02:55, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
I guess it's because that's how the infobox was supposed to work. NaraInsider1694 (talk) 03:35, 18 December 2022 (UTC)

Where did you find Panther 10.3.0 RTM Server?[edit source]

Hey, i'm in the middle of rewriting all Mac OS X pages to include more information. I see you added another build to Jaguar, and it now has a page. I am gonna start rewriting Panther today too. However, i do want to do Server updates as well, so, where did you find 7B86? I'm always searching for it, and can't find it. Thanks, Main3782 (talk) 12:55, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

You can find it on Macintosh Garden by typing "Mac OS X Server 10.3" on the search bar. ClassicMacOSGuy1067 (talk) 13:01, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks! Main3782 (talk) 13:03, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

One more thing...[edit source]

Hey there, yes i'm not yet rewriting Panther builds yet, im waiting for a DVD drive to arrive for my PowerMac G3. Just wanted to ask, do you use emulators for these builds or real hardware? Main3782 (talk) 10:53, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

I emulate those builds using either QEMU or PearPC. ClassicMacOSGuy1067 (talk) 10:55, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
Ah, makes sense why you could install SMBIOS-locked builds like the Early 2003 Xserve RTM or whatever. If i try to do the same on my G3, it will fail before installation. I'm sure you can fool the OS with a fake SMBIOS with OpenFirmware, but i overall dislike doing that. But anyways, thanks for the info. Main3782 (talk) 10:59, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
