Windows 11 build 27802 is a build of Selenium, the 25H2 development semester of Windows as a service. It was released to the Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel on 28 February 2025, along with builds 22635.5015 and 26120.3360.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Features[edit | edit source]

The following previously introduced features and changes have been gradually rolled out:

  • The ability to display battery percentage in the system tray, along with new "Battery percentage" section under System > Power & battery in the Settings app (initially implemented in build 26120.2992 and can be activated manually by enabling the 48822452 velocity staging key)
  • Improvements to the battery icon in the system tray (previously implemented in build 27764 and can be activated manually by enabling the 48822452 velocity staging key)
  • The new Share button next to recently used items in a jump list for quickly sharing (previously implemented in build 27764 and can be activated manually by enabling the 45738940 and velocity staging key)
  • The ability to open a Spotlight flyout automatically while hovering over the Spotlight button on the desktop (previously implemented in build 27768 and can be activated manually by enabling the 48656084 velocity staging key)

The following previously introduced features and changes have also been ported to this build, albeit being disabled by default:

  • New "Drag here to Share" tray at the top of the screen when using drag-and-drop on a file (initially implemented in build 22635.4805 and can be activated manually by enabling the 45624564 and 53397005 velocity staging keys)
  • New "Your widgets" option under PersonalizationLock screen in the Settings app along with the ability to add, remove, rearrange and customize lock screen widgets (initially implemented in build 22635.4870 and can be activated manually by enabling the 50179255 and 53672489 velocity staging keys)
  • The simplified and streamlined design of blue screen of death (initially impelemented in build 26120.3291 and can be activated manually by enabling the 50070238 velocity staging key)
  • The in-line image editing capabilities for local images stored on the device in the Windows Share flyout. (partially implemented in build 27783 and then fully functional in Server build 26360; can be activated manually by enabling the 53433910 and 54475355 velocity staging key)

Shell[edit | edit source]

The extraneous space between Dynamic Lock and Administrator Protection sections under the Account Protection page in the Windows Security app has been removed.

Settings[edit | edit source]

The Home page on managed commercial devices with Education, Enterprise and IoT Enterprise SKUs, previously implemented in build 27749 and rolled out in build 27788, has been temporarily disabled by default due to some issues. It still can be activated manually by enabling the 53281237 velocity staging key.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

General[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue that was causing the 0x80073712 error when attempting to install a .NET Framework 4.8.1 update via Windows Update in build 27788.
  • Fixed a rare issue that was causing a resource loader cache error loading the MUI file on sign in when Administrator Protection was enabled.
  • Fixed an issue where Administrator Protection wasn't showing in the results when searching from the taskbar.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing a background audio crash in certain cases.
  • Fixed an issue in builds 27783 and 27788 where when using Remote Desktop to connect to the device and then tried to sign into the computer locally, it would sit at a black screen.
  • Fixed some underlying issues that were causing the WIN32K_CRITICAL_FAILURE and KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE bugchecks.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the sfc /scannow command to show errors every time it runs.
  • Addressed an underlying issue that was causing Hyper-V and other features which rely on it (such as Windows Subsystem for Linux) to not work properly.

File Explorer[edit | edit source]

Fixed an issue where when opening a File Explorer window and then minimizing it, it might not be rendered correctly when restoring it.

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue when using multiple monitors, where the distance between the date and time and edge of the screen wasn't consistent.
  • Fixed an issue where when using a non-default mouse color, it may unexpectedly revert back to white when encountering a UAC dialog.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the login screen to crash when clicking the "sign-in options" link in certain cases.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

General[edit | edit source]

  • Enrolling to the Windows Insider Program on a new Copilot+ PC may cause Windows Hello PIN and biometrics to fail with the 0xd0000225 ("Something went wrong, and your PIN isn't available") error.
  • Running certain games or printing from some apps may cause bugchecks.
  • Certain apps may fail to launch due to a d3d9.dll crash in certain cases.

The search window may be blank when searching from the taskbar due to a background crash.

Settings[edit | edit source]

The colors in the new battery icon may not display correctly when the color mode under PersonalizationColors is set to certain options with Custom.
