Windows 11 build 27783 is a build of Selenium, the 25H2 development semester of Windows as a service. It was released to the Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel on 29 January 2025.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Features[edit | edit source]

The following previously introduced features and changes have been gradually rolled out:

  • New Ctrl+Alt+- keyboard shortcut in Magnifier for quickly toggling between the current zoom and 1× zoom (initially implemented in build 22635.4515 and can be activated manually by enabling the 54322778 velocity staging key)
  • New buttons in Magnifier for resetting zoom to fit to screen or last/preferred magnification (initially implemented in build 22635.4660)
  • The visual improvements to File Explorer's Home page (previously implemented in build 26241 and can be activated manually by enabling the 45130483 velocity staging key)
  • The "Resume" feature, a device syncing functionality that aims to create a seamless OneDrive integration between mobile phone and the Windows desktop environment (previously implemented in build 27729 and can be activated manually by enabling the 49527529 velocity staging key.
  • The new right-click context menu for turning off or snoozing the "Start backup" reminder in File Explorer's address bar (previously implemented in build 27758 and can be activated manually by enabling the 47944061 velocity staging key)

The following previously introduced features and changes have also been ported to this build, albeit being disabled by default:

  • New top cards under the SystemAbout page in the Settings app to show key hardware specifications (initially implemented in Windows 10 build 19045.5070 and can be activated manually by enabling the 51784082 and 54618938 velocity staging keys)
  • The ability to restore all previously opened tabs in each File Explorer window at logon if the "Restore previous folder windows at logon" option is enabled (initially implemented in build 22635.4580 and can be activated manually by enabling the 54572881 velocity staging key)
  • Updates to the top right hotspot on the lock screen (initially implemented in build 22635.4655 and can be activated manually by enabling the 53844009 velocity staging key with the variant parameter set to 1, 3 or 4 for different icons and descriptions)
  • Updates to the Spotlight button on the desktop with a new icon and dynamic text related to the current image (initially implemented in build 22635.4660 and can be activated manually by enabling the 52145430 velocity staging key with the variant parameter set to 1 or 2)

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue that was causing the taskbar preview windows to not display sometimes when hovering over open apps on the taskbar.
  • Fixed an issue where switching between windows may unexpectedly switch the Pinyin IME from Chinese to English.
  • Fixed an underlying issue that was leading to unexpected app window freezes when switching between certain types of apps via Alt+Tab ↹.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the Settings app to crash when navigating to SystemDisplayGraphics in certain cases.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Remote Desktop Connection to fail to initialize with the 0x80080005 error in build 27774.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Remote Desktop to show significant display / rendering issues when connecting to certain other computers.
  • Fixed an underlying issue that was causing an explorer.exe memory leak, leading to performance issues over time.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the shutdown /r /fw command to not work sometimes.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

  • Enrolling to the Windows Insider Program on a new Copilot+ PC may cause Windows Hello PIN and biometrics to fail with the 0xd0000225 ("Something went wrong, and your PIN isn't available") error.
  • Text on highlighted items in Microsoft Management Console and some of its snap-ins may have a yellow color.
  • When opening and then minimizing a File Explorer window, the window may not render correctly when restoring it.
  • The sfc /scannow command may show errors every time it runs.
  • Hyper-V and other features which rely on it (such as Windows Subsystem for Linux) may not work properly.
  • System initialization will fail with PHASE0_EXCEPTION bugcheck if booted on CIX P1 CD8180 processor with multi-core configuration enabled.
