WinSAT (short for Windows System Assessment Tool), is a benchmarking tool first included in Windows Vista. It includes various software and hardware benchmarking such as CPU clock speed or RAM speed. This tool is also the main component of Windows Experience Index.
Starting with Windows 8.1, Windows Experience Index was removed from the "System" control panel applet, thus making the tool hidden, only accessible using Command Prompt and run its executable directly. However, some traces of the tool still remained, such as on the Games Explorer. Some special third-party tools were also made to replicate the original implementation.
