New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

The redesigned Open With dialog box, which initially introduced in build 22563, later reverted in build 22579 and then removed completely in build 22581, has been re-added.

  • This feature is disabled by default, To enable it, use ViveTool from an elevated Command Prompt window to enable the 36302090 velocity ID.

Widgets[edit | edit source]

The ability to show a notification badge on Widgets entry point has been added. A banner will appear at the top of the Widgets board providing more information on what triggered the notification badge.

  • This feature is only available to a subset of Windows Insiders.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

  • The reliability for dismissing the context menu when clicking a tab and then clicking somewhere else in File Explorer has been improved.
  • The Exclusions page in the Windows Security app has been updated so that file paths now make better use of the available space rather than truncating when space is still available.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

General[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed a high hitting Windows Security app crash.
  • Fixed an underlying issue which was causing a crash when trying to delete ports in printui /s.
  • Fixed an issue causing printing to not work from UWP apps in recent builds.

File Explorer[edit | edit source]

Fixed a scaling issue which could result in the tabs being unexpectedly large.

  • Some games that use Easy Anti-Cheat may crash or cause the device to bugcheck.
  • Some users may experience a KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED bugcheck in NetAdapterCx.sys.

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • The Mica material and Acrylic blur effect may not render correctly in OS surfaces like the Start menu, Notification Center and other areas.
  • The Up button next to File Explorer address bar may be misaligned with other buttons.
    • This issue will only be encountered if the tabbed browsing feature is enabled on the device.
  • Launching File Explorer when using dark mode may unexpectedly show the body of File Explorer in light mode.
  • On some locales, the default font used in several UI elements (such as the date and time on the taskbar) may change to regular Segoe UI instead of Segoe UI Variable.

Widgets[edit | edit source]

  • Widgets preferences, such as temperature units and pinned widgets, may unexpectedly reset to default in some cases.
  • The Notification badge number may appear misaligned on the taskbar.
  • The Notification banner for some badging may not appear in the Widgets board in some cases.

Live captions[edit | edit source]

  • Certain apps in full screen (e.g., video players) may prevent live captions from being visible.
  • Certain apps positioned near the top of the screen and closed before live captions is run may re-launch behind the live captions window positioned at top.

Safe mode[edit | edit source]

  • Quick Settings and date/time clock on the taskbar may be missing due to the Capability Access Manager Service service not running.
  • Clicking Bluetooth & devices and Personalization pages may crash the Settings app due to an overrun of a stack-based buffer 0xc0000409.
