Windows 10 build 20150 is the first Insider Preview build of Iron, the 21H1 development semester of Windows as a service. This build was released to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel (formerly known as the Fast Ring) on 17 June 2020 along with its server counterpart.
New features and changes[edit | edit source]
- The Windows Subsystem for Linux has been updated to support GPU compute, which is a feature that allows the Linux binaries present on the machine to leverage the GPU.
- Two new commands have been added to
wsl.exe
, namely--install
to install WSL and its dependencies, and--update
to update the WSL2 kernel. - The search box on Settings' Default Apps page, which was first introduced in Manganese build 19608 but removed for maintenance in build 19624, has been reintroduced with some performance improvements to some Insiders. It wouldn't be available to every Dev Channel Insider until build 20211.1000.
- The updated Korean IME, which was introduced in May 2020 Update build 18941, has been reintroduced for the second time. It was later removed for the third time in Cobalt build 21359.
- Updated the Maps and Office app icons on a clean installation of this build.
- The text of the Settings → Privacy → Location page has been updated to clarify that the icon displayed when the user's location is being used will be displayed in the taskbar.
Bugs[edit | edit source]
- There's a chance that the system may crash with a
HYPERVISOR_ERROR
BSOD. - The update process to this build has a chance of hanging for extended periods of time.
- Notepad may fail to open files which were automatically saved during a PC upgrade (or restart if enabled in Settings). Saved documents can be recovered from
%localappdata%\Notepad
.
