Windows 10 build 10074 is the first officially released Insider Preview build of Windows 10, which was released to Windows Insiders on 29 April 2015.[1]

New features and changes[edit | edit source]
- New system sounds have been introduced.
- The context menu has been updated in some places.
- The navigation buttons in the Settings app have received changes.
- The Network icon has been updated.
- Closing an application in Tablet Mode now takes you to the Start screen.
- Multi-tasking improvements (Alt+Tab, Task-View, Snap Assist).
- Personalization options in Control Panel have been removed, as the applet was only intended to be used for switching themes. However, this change would be reverted in build 10547.
- Express settings have been updated in the OOBE.
Search and Cortana[edit | edit source]
- The search icon has received an update.
- Accent color has been removed from the search box.
- Start and Cortana are now more integrated.
- New experiences in Cortana powered by Bing Instant Answers.
Music and Video Preview Apps[edit | edit source]
- Full screen mode has been added to the Music app.
- Movies, TV shows and TV seasons can now be downloaded via the Video Preview app on up to three devices.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
Hardware compatibilities[edit | edit source]
If installing on VMware, make sure to change the compatibility to version 12.x; otherwise, a bugcheck will appear when attempting to boot; and disable all network drivers, or the build will update the time via the internet, thus activating the timebomb, or the graphics driver will crash, causing the display to glitch.

Changing the resolution and resizing the taskbar may cause the Start menu to open.
Settings[edit | edit source]
In Update & security, clicking on "For developers" causes the Settings to crash.
Translations[edit | edit source]
The non-English versions of this build have translations missing in some places.
Polish version[edit | edit source]
The Polish version mistranslates "Power" as "Moc", instead of "Zasilanie". This mistranslation would be fixed in the RTM build.
Korean version[edit | edit source]
The Korean version mistranslates "Windows" as "창" (chang), instead of "창문" (changmun). This mistranslation would be fixed in the RTM build.
