Talk:Boot screen

What the hell[edit source]

Why did somebody have the weird idea to add a thousand copies of what's literally the same design with a different date or version number??? --Ryuzaki (talk | contribs) 04:36, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

go ask jitro mandagi, seems like it was his idea. Thats what talk pages are for MikeShinoda2001 (talk) 04:40, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

This article is still not completed...[edit source]

1. There is not only VGALOGO.RLE as the boot graphic of Windows 3.1. If the Video card is set to EGA Color, EGALOGO.RLE is loaded instead; same with HERCLOGO for Hercules graphics cards, EGAMONO for EGA Monochrome and CGALOGO(?) for CGA. 2. History: An link to Windows NT 3.5 should be added in the "History" section under "Windows NT 3.1-4.0". 3. I agree that there are too much images there. Some of the Windows Screenshots like the Windows NT 3.1 Final one should be removed. However, the images showing the macOS boot screens are still missing. 2.204.220.180, 17:35 8 November 2021

This article is still not completed #2[edit source]

It has been probably like a few months since I first read this article and it is February 2022 and it is STILL NOT IN A COMPLETED STATE! The boot screens for macOS are still missing and some of the sections don't look quite right like for example there is nothing under the Windows 7 section and there is no descriptions of the boot screens from Windows 7's development like the hidden boot screen from build 6469, the animated Vista-style boot screen from builds 6519-6608, the boot screen that says, "Starting Windows." from build 6730, the boot screen that has the animated progress bar from builds 6780-6936 (client), 6801 (Server) and the boot screen that has the animated Windows logo forming in builds 6941-7601.

There are also way too many images and some of the images like the one for Xbox One OS are unnecessary and should be removed.

This page overall really needs to be improved big time.

Calm down. If you want it to be finished then you should try and finish it yourself. Jurta (talkcontribs) 22:03, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
Can someone edit the text for Windows XP/Whistler? It is copied 1:1 from both build 2474 and 2428 page. 88.67.246.41 (talk), 14 February 2022, 17:30 GMT

Ubuntu 21.10[edit source]

I tried Ubuntu 21.10 in VMware 15.5, and it had the 22.04 boot screen. Please can you change it? 78.160.125.93 17:45, 15 March 2022 (UTC)

Alternate Boot screen in Win8 build 8102[edit source]

IIRC there's a hidden boot screen in Win8 build 8102 (aka the Official Developer Preview) that can be enabled by using "No GUI Boot" parameter. Its design is super simple, just some blue squares at the top of the screen that shows booting status. It's not documented there :/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Luigie (talkcontribs)

That boot screen was present builds before, starting on build 8056. BetaReporter (talk) 08:01, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
User:BetaReporter you mean 8045???????? 94.128.165.221 08:07, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
The alternate boot screen isn't listed in that build page. Only that build's bcdedit will tell. BetaReporter (talk) 08:17, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
They also don't have the Server 2012 build 7965 one. TechActivate 781 (talk) 09:30, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
