Android 9 is the ninth major version of Google's Android OS. It was released on 6 August 2018.
The platform was supported continuously with monthly releases and introduced Quarterly Platform Releases (QPRs) to the release cycle, replacing the older maintenance (MR) release system. With Android 9 QPR1, Android 9 QPR2, and Android 9 QPR3 being released. As of January 2022, the last Android Security Bulletin backport patches were officially shipped. The highest Security Patch Level an Android 9 device can obtain officially is 2022-01-05.
