Windows Vista build 5712 is a build of Windows Vista, which was shared online on 9 October 2006 only in Simplified Chinese.[1] Despite the build number being higher than the official release candidate, it was compiled five days earlier, in a similar fashion to Windows 7 build 7106 (winmain), Windows 8 build 8277 and Windows 10 build 10102 (winmain prs). Also, this build is still labeled as "Pre-RC 1" on the desktop watermark, despite being compiled at the same time as the later compile of build 5552, which reverts the "Pre-RC 1" label back to "RC 1" on the watermark.
This build includes VoteNow.exe but it does not function since it requires a SOAP request from an internal Microsoft server.

Changes[edit | edit source]
- Several icons were changed with this build.
- All old user folder icons were replaced.
- Offline Folders and Keyboard applets in Control Panel received new icons. Additionally, the "Clock, Language, and Region" category icon was updated.
- The back and forward buttons in Help and Support Center were updated slightly.
- Command Prompt now longer has wide caption buttons if the Windows Basic theme is enabled.
Bugs[edit | edit source]
- Due to incomplete localization, some applications and Windows Setup of this build are garbled.
- The copyright notice in Command Prompt is displayed in pseudo-localized US English.
