Windows Vista build 5487 is a pre-RC1 build of Windows Vista, which was reuploaded to BetaArchive by Grabberslasher on 29 January 2020.[1] Prior to its public upload, German technology news website WinFuture.de would release 57 screenshots of it on 2 August 2006.[2][3] The build itself was later shared online in China five days later on 7 August, but it became lost shortly after.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Branding[edit | edit source]

This is the earliest available build stating itself as RC 1 instead of Beta 2 on watermark.

  • The setup background has been updated to that seen in the RTM. The OOBE was also updated to use this background.
  • Network settings have been added to the OOBE.
  • The final page to the OOBE no longer has a clickable Start orb.
  • In the aforementioned page, You're ready to start is replaced with Thank you.

User Interface[edit | edit source]

  • The Windows orb seen on startup has decreased in size and resembles that of the RTM.
  • The login screen now uses its final background. The design of certain visual elements and buttons such as the Ease of Access button and the glass frames on user account pictures have also been updated and resembles that of the RTM.
  • Several user folders have been colored a greenish blue.
  • A download link for Windows Live Messenger has been added to the Start menu.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

Graphics driver[edit | edit source]
