Changes[edit | edit source]
- Microsoft Chat is now installed by default.
- During the final part of setup, the window that shows Windows Help to prepare for the first use no longer pops up.
- The "Internet" and "Users" Control Panel applets received new icons. The latter one is now identical to the RTM build.
- Internet Explorer now uses it's icon, instead of the default web icon.
Bugs[edit | edit source]
Installation[edit | edit source]
Setup has a WINSETUP.BIN that is not recognized by setup at all times and causes setup to crash on most virtualizers except Microsoft Virtual PC, 86Box, VARCem, and some versions of VMware, due to incorrect emulation of the segment limits of the CPU core. To patch this build to run on any virtualizer, use a WINSETUP.BIN from an earlier build or the RTM.
System configuration[edit | edit source]
It is recommended to run this build in an emulator such as PCem or 86Box, otherwise you will encounter errors relating to Internet Explorer during the System Configuration portion of the setup. If you encounter these errors, you must close them to continue, but note that many system applications will not work.
A Java package will not install properly regardless, although it can be safely ignored.
