New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

The support of JPEG XR high dynamic range (HDR) wallpaper on HDR displays, initially implemented in build 23493, has been ported to this build.

Settings[edit | edit source]

  • The Home page, initially implemented in build 23493, has been ported to this build.
  • Starting with this build, Remote Desktop Connection can be uninstalled via Apps > Installed apps.

Out-of-box experience (OOBE)[edit | edit source]

A new Presence Sensing toggle switch has been added under the Choose privacy settings for your device section. This change is disabled by default, but can be activated by enabling the 39484957 velocity staging key.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

  • The new Outlook progressive web app, based on the web service and served as an replacement for Windows Mail, has been included as an inbox app.
  • The native support for additional archive file formats, initially implemented in build 23493, has been ported to this build.
  • The refresh rate logic has been improved to allow different refresh rates on different monitors, depending on the refresh rate for each monitor and content shown on the screen.
  • When the Dynamic Refresh Rate and Battery saver are enabled via the Settings app, the system will remain at the lower refresh rate and not switch to the higher rate until after Battery saver is disabled.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue that was causing devices with ASUS motherboards to fail to perform an in-place upgrade to recent Gallium builds.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing ethernet-connected devices to lose network connectivity sometimes.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

  • Adjusting screen brightness may not work on some laptops.
  • The Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray on the taskbar may sometimes disappear.
  • The icons on the desktop may appear blank in certain cases. Refreshing the desktop would resolve this issue.
  • Task Manager may fail to open on some locales.
  • The system may get stuck at the boot screen when booting into Safe mode, due to failure when initializing the Canonical Display Driver (cdd.dll).
