Windows 11 build 22623.885 is a build of Windows 11 2022 Update. It was released to a subset of Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel on 7 November 2022 as the KB5018863 enablement update to build 22621.885 (KB5020054) for new features included, which may not be enabled by default and instead be rolled out.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • A new Studio effects page for configuring camera and audio effects has been added to the Quick Settings for NPU-compatible devices. This feature can be toggled on manually by enabling the 39413510 velocity ID.
  • The pin/unpin visual will display when dragging tray icons to any position along the system tray.

File Explorer[edit | edit source]

The performance of deleting a large number of files at once via File Explorer has been improved.

Widgets[edit | edit source]

  • The expanded view of the Widgets board, initially introduced in build 25201, has been rolled out to a subset of users. This feature can be toggled on manually by enabling the 34300186 velocity ID.
  • The changes to the Settings page, initially introduced in build 25211, have been added. This feature is disabled by default, but can be toggled on manually by enabling the 38652916 velocity ID.

  • The new Energy Recommendations page under System > Power, initially implemented in build 25231, has been rolled out to a subset of users. This feature can be toggled on manually by enabling the 39427030 and 41249924 velocity IDs.
  • The new touch keyboard dropdown menu under Time & language > Typing, initially introduced in build 25188, has been rolled out to all users. This feature can be toggled on manually by enabling the 37007953 velocity ID.

The new Tamil Anjal keyboard for the Tamil language, initially introduced in build 25179, has been rolled out to all users.

Task Manager[edit | edit source]

The process filtering feature, initially implemented in build 25231, has been added. This feature is disabled by default, but can be toggled on manually by enabling the 39420424 velocity ID.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

The change to support the use of the clipboard history on password fields, initially introduced in build 25206, has been rolled out to all users.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed a few explorer.exe crashes related to the recent taskbar and system tray work.
  • Fixed the issue where certain chat apps (that supported it) weren't flashing with new messages or opening a preview on hover in the system tray.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the show hidden icons flyout in the system tray to not responsively resize with changes and appear empty spaces and columns.
  • Fixed an issue that could result in the show hidden icons flyout appearing disconnected from the taskbar in certain cases.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the volume icon in the system tray to incorrectly show as muted.
  • Fixed an issue where invoking the context menu for items in the system tray might not put the context menu in the foreground and it would get stuck behind the taskbar.
  • Fixed an issue that prevents some modern applications from opening.

The audio may stop working in certain cases.

Tablet-optimized taskbar[edit | edit source]

  • The taskbar may sometimes flash when transitioning between desktop posture and tablet posture.
  • The taskbar may take longer than expected to transition to the touch-optimized version when switching between desktop posture and tablet posture.
  • The taskbar may sometimes stay stuck in the expanded state instead of dismissing to collapsed state when using the bottom right edge gesture to see Quick Settings.
