Talk:Windows 1.0 Development Release 5

Final beta?[edit source]

"This is the final beta version of Windows 1.x before it's launch in 1985."

No, it isn't, what about the Alpha, Beta and Premiere versions? :) --JaGoTu (talk) 20:18, 6 August 2013 (BST)

Happy birthday[edit source]

Happy 30th birthday, Windows 1 DR5! Tau Ceti (talk) 10:15, 31 October 2014 (GMT)

Feature[edit source]

I think we should make this one of our first featured articles. Tau Ceti (talk) 23:50, 10 January 2016 (GMT)

Tutorial?[edit source]

I think we should remove the tutorial cause it's not that hard to download PCem and figure out how to use it and install DR5. --LilShootDawg (talk) 14:27, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Image size[edit source]

I am not sure if the images in the Screenshots section were badly cropped or the original resolution. The screenshot produced by Take screenshot is 640x400 (CGA) and 720x348 (HERCULES) in 86Box and I can see a taskbar. I want to know whether my resolution is wrong or the pictures were cropped or there are other DR5 drives to produce those resolutions.--Bubbles (talk) 11:25, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

If you read the guidelines you would see that it says to "crop screenshot to program window" --LilShootDawg (talk) 12:50, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
CGA screenshots are larger, since they also include the overscan (8 pixels on each side). The screenshot section really needs to be reworked, as each screenshot is shown with Hercules and CGA drivers, which is not quite necessary. The CGA screenshots are also improperly double-scanned, and weirdly cropped due to the overscan. --Ryuzaki (talk) 22:18, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
So they are fine, thanks for the answer.--Bubbles (talk) 06:27, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
Then why did you revert the changes from CGA to HGC? (Not you Bubbles) —LilShootDawg (talk) 11:51, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
Whats being reversed?--Bubbles (talk) 20:57, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
I think having both CGA and Hercules version of each screenshot is an overkill, since we don't do that for other builds. I suggest we pick one display adapter and stick to it exclusively.--Overdoze (talk) 08:52, 19 May 2019 (UTC)
I would pick CGA because it is the default display.--Bubbles (talk) 08:59, 19 May 2019 (UTC)
I think they are not 100% perfect as some include the 8px padding, some were antialiased and some have cursor in the visible section. I am now trying to fix all those. The resolution without taskbar should be 640x364 for CGA and 720x314 for Hercules.--Bubbles (talk) 10:25, 18 May 2019 (UTC)
Bruh, the ones that have a problem are your WARNING DR5.PNG and MINOR ERROR DR5.PNG. --LilShootDawg (talk) 13:58, 19 May 2019 (UTC)
Really? Here--Bubbles (talk) 06:57, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
Those aren't mine. If you even dared to scroll down (horrifying I know) you would see the original uploader as JaGoTu. --LilShootDawg (talk) 10:46, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
Also isn’t it funny he doesn’t compare the HCG screens I took and replaced them. I wonder why he didn’t compare those? Hmm. —LilShootDawg (talk) 11:15, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

Quit the bickering and try to be constructive at least once. --Ryuzaki (talk) 11:28, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

Split this page and the later build information in it.[edit source]

I think we should split the later build demonstrated in this article because the build is not the same. NewAge (talk/contribs)

Support[edit source]

Per above. NewAge (talk/contribs)

Yes, I agree. Although, I don't know if it would be notable enough. NexineTech2022 (talk) 17:49, 16 July 2024 (UTC)

Oppose[edit source]

I can't launch Windows after a restart[edit source]

Make sure you're on the C: drive, then run PATH C:\WINDOWS\BIN and CD C:\WINDOWS\TEST, then type MSWIN. NexineTech2022 (talk) 17:49, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
