Unorganized[edit source]

Oh, someone uses IPv6 do they? Tau Ceti (talk) 00:49, 25 October 2014 (BST)

Your page was modified by a random spammer, who kept evading blocks but we took care of it. His actions were a reason for locking down many pages on the wiki. --AirportsFan. (talk) 20:30, 30 October 2014 (GMT)

I find it just annoying that some of my favourite pages were locked for editing. But I suppose it's all in the name of stopping vandalism on the wiki, isn't it? Tau Ceti (talk) 07:26, 31 October 2014 (GMT)

Windows buildlist?[edit source]

What purpose you standed on to create such pages? We have already listed builds for each Windows, along with their information. If you have anything to add to them, you can let us know and we'll add *verified* information to betawiki only. Creating pages from your own is not the way to do it.

I have deleted the builds pages. Don't do it again.

--AirportsFan. (talk) 20:55, 1 November 2014 (GMT)

What is meant by verified info? Leaked builds only? Anyway, some pages are locked. Don't worry... I'm no X010! Tau Ceti (talk) 07:21, 3 November 2014 (GMT)

Spam[edit source]

Someone vandalized my userpage yet again. The revision is deleted, isn't it? Thank you whoever did that. I was rather annoyed.--Tau Ceti (talk) 09:12, 23 November 2014 (GMT)

Just scouring the old warez cd lists right now...[edit source]

I'm looking for windows builds in those. Found the lists at http://community.fortunecity.ws/skyscraper/ram/1063/lists.html (Note: it doesn't have Fate). The preceding comment was written by --Tau Ceti (talk) 18:30, 13 December 2014 (GMT)

Here are my findings: starting with CrazyBytes, nothing much in vols 01 or 02, but vol 03 has got Visio 3.0a technical edition. Does that deserve its own page?

Vol 04 has some more office applications, such as Publisher for Windows 95, Visio 4.01 and PowerPoint 7.0. --Tau Ceti (talk) 18:37, 13 December 2014 (GMT) Vol 05 has Office 95 Pro as well as Publisher 3.0 'Deluxe'.

OK now finally something good: I found the final Windows NT 4 (does not mention if Workstation or Server) in volume 06. I'll keep on going: --Tau Ceti (talk) 18:41, 13 December 2014 (GMT)

Vol 08 has both SKUs of Windows NT 4:
Vol 12 has an apparent 'upgrade from Windows 95 to 96'. Either they mean Nashville or it's just fake.
Vol 14 has a Memphis beta but doesn't mention which one? --Tau Ceti (talk) 18:48, 13 December 2014 (GMT)
Vol 15 has Windows NT 5 build 1515! There's another uncertain beta in Vol 16 mih. Maybe that's build 1434?

Since many lists were made in about 1997-98 there are plenty of Windows 98 betas in this lists. Vol 18 has got beta 2 (build 1569) as well as NT4 SP4, vol 19 has build 1581, vol 21 has beta 2.1 (build 1624)...
--Tau Ceti (talk) 03:23, 14 December 2014 (GMT)

Vol 20 of CB has an unknown Memphis build in it. Vol 08 is just 1381, nothing too special. Vol 12's 95>96 upgrade is fake, as Marco0551 pointed out in his 1500 thread. Vol 14 just contains 1351. MIH most likely contains 1500. And NSNA contains 1434, which i leaked. --InfinityPlus1 (talk) 03:29, 14 December 2014 (GMT)

Which vol 20? Spice or TND?--Tau Ceti (talk) 03:32, 14 December 2014 (GMT)

There are a few more builds in the later lists, 1650.3, 1666 and 1691. Also I can't see any Memphis build in vol 20, the closest it comes is the Dutch Encarta 98 in TND CD 4--Tau Ceti (talk) 03:37, 14 December 2014 (GMT)

Also in vol 8, build 1381? That's not leaked, you must mean 1351 or 1387. --Tau Ceti (talk) 16:07, 14 December 2014 (GMT) And of course the 96 upgrade is fake because Nashville was only found in 2001.

--Tau Ceti (talk) 16:13, 14 December 2014 (GMT) The Extreme vol 3 list has the Outlook 98 final beta. What is the build number? Update: That same beta is found in the CB 24 list.

Not to mention of course, build 1900 is in vol 26. And the final 98 with plus pack found in vol 27, with the Dutch version in vol 29.

--Tau Ceti (talk) 01:30, 15 December 2014 (GMT) Update: I'm wondering what the unknown build in vol 20 is. Judging by the other volumes, it's probably beta 1 (1488).

I also found the 98se build, 2131 in vol 35. And vol 36 has final Windows 2000 in it.

--Tau Ceti (talk) 01:41, 15 December 2014 (GMT) Vol 40 has the Office 2000 Corporate Edition. And vol 41 has dutch 98se final. And... guess this... in vol 42 is Windows ME build 2348! I am actually surprised there was no build 2332.2.

Just scouring the old warez cd lists right now... Pt 2[edit source]

New heading added to make editing easier. --Tau Ceti (talk) 06:21, 15 December 2014 (GMT)

Leaked Builds:

Memphis Build 1434 in CB 16 NSNA. (I leaked it :D)

Windows 98 Build 1658 in Tazmania 04.

Detroit Build 1154 in CB 09.

Windows 95 r-6 Plain RTM No SPs in CB 04.

And the list goes on... I know you want unleaked builds more so here it goes.

Unleaked builds:

Windows 95 Build 285 in Power CD 1.

Windows 98 Build 1614 in MegaPack 3.

Windows 98 Build 1720 in B&B 4.

Windows 98 SE Build 2170 in SOS Technologies April 99.

Windows NT 5.0 Build 1575 in Maxxx '97 volume 1.

The list goes on...

I found more warez CD lists on the same website but many of them are games only.

For example: http://community.fortunecity.ws/underworld/blood/307/

In volume 1 is "MicroSoft Windows 98 Beta 2 Refresh".

In volume 2 is nothing.

And in here: http://community.fortunecity.ws/skyscraper/joystick/979/programas.doc

we got "WINDOS 98 BETA 4".

What?? beta 4?? I have only heard of Beta 1, 2, 2.1, and 3! No build number given unfortunately.

Hope these lists are useful! :) --InfinityPlus1 (talk) 18:22, 21 December 2014 (GMT)

Notes : beta 4 could be a mislabel of RC0 (build 1691). Beta 2 is weird because I have only seen Windows ME beta 2 refresh (that is build 2452) and this could be a mislabel of beta 2.1 (build 1602). --Tau Ceti (talk) 18:42, 21 December 2014 (GMT)

I have found an entire list dedicated to Microsoft products. Best of Microsoft.

Volume 1 has: Windows 3.11, DOS 6.2, DOS 6.22 (upgrade), Dutch Plus! 95, Access, Money and Office 95. The Office 95 is probably cracked because serial is listed as 000-0000000.

Also in vol 1, there is Publisher 3.0 full, VB 4.0 full, Win95 Dutch or UK English, Win96 (not upgrade, probably fake), Windows NT4 upgrade, NT3.51 both server and workstation. TBC. --Tau Ceti (talk) 18:56, 21 December 2014 (GMT)

BOM vol 2 has both UK English Windows NT 4. It's also got Dutch Internet Explorer 3. --Tau Ceti (talk) 23:26, 21 December 2014 (GMT)

Just scouring the old warez cd lists right now... Pt 3[edit source]

Do you know about the so called 'Windows 95 v4.10' found in WinWarezPro '96 vol 3? Thanks. --Tau Ceti (talk) 01:16, 25 December 2014 (GMT)

No, but I DO know that the 1381 Workstation on CB08 is in fact a beta. Read this topic on BA: http://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33216 I have both the beta WKS (7/27/96) and the final Server (8/2/96). I posted that 3 days ago, and I provided a MEGA.co.nz link for everyone to have. Anyway, thanks for the tip :) --InfinityPlus1 (talk) 01:30, 25 December 2014 (GMT)

Yes, the beta 1381 workstation, nice job! I have this build and some anonymous user has already uploaded it to winworld. --Tau Ceti (talk) 18:09, 25 December 2014 (GMT)

Spam pt 2[edit source]

That user 'Random' is really a pain. Thank goodness he's blocked! --Tau Ceti (talk) 20:11, 5 January 2015 (GMT)

I think the wiki status is degrading...[edit source]

You decide. I don't really know. --Tau Ceti (talk) 22:05, 7 January 2015 (GMT)

If you are talking about BetaWiki, I noticed that aswell. BetaWiki was a pretty known wiki in the times of Windows 8.1 dev, sadly now it's fading to nonexistence.. Thing is, to wake the wiki up, we, the BetaWiki community, would have to go build by build, make a longer article on each build. In our size this will take months, if not years. --AlphaBeta (talk) 15:11, 10 January 2015 (GMT)
Give me data and info on new and old builds alike, or even ISO's etcetera. I'll write better articles. This community is great, it deserves better than second-rate build info. --callum90ish (talk) 10:35, 26th January 2015 (NZDT)

Just scouring the old warez cd lists right now... Pt 4[edit source]

This one's mostly about the huge collection of software found in the NUMbers archive at retro.icequake.net. This includes Fate (900 volumes of warez references in 3 neat ZIP files of about 2.5 MB, how good is that?) --Tau Ceti (talk) 22:16, 24 January 2015 (GMT)

Actually it's not 900 volumes per se. I wondered why part 6 (vols 601-900 lists) was so small in file size then it turns out; the lists only go up to 612!

Part 9 (the newest CDs) is a scattered collection with; Fate 593-612 (that are also in Part 5/6) and get this: Fate 613-632! If they'd discovered those volumes then why not put them into part 6!
I'd really appreciate it if anyone could provide a link to the missing lists for Fate 633-900. Thank you! --Tau Ceti (talk) 22:25, 24 January 2015 (GMT)

Regarding your "Intersoft" project and others[edit source]

I think they are all pointless, sorry, because nobody else even visited them, and since free hosting is [censored] and always is down they will all be just a waste of time.--Ovctvct (talk) 13:18, 6 February 2015 (GMT)

Sorry. Tau Ceti (talk) 21:27, 7 February 2015 (GMT)

I think I'll use Linode for hosting. Tau Ceti (talk) 08:54, 26 February 2015 (GMT)

Fleshing out Wiki[edit source]

I want to start fleshing out the Wiki pages. If anyone wants to help me (I would accept resources, ISO's, anything!!!), it's welcome. Just put links to webpages (I don't give out my email address for security reasons) with the info and/or files on my User talk page. If there is any section you want me to particularly focus on to start with, then tell me. callum90ish (talk) 4:51PM, 26 February 2015 (NZDT)

Would be really nice. To start off you can get ISOs at winworldpc.com. Tau Ceti (talk) 07:30, 26 February 2015 (GMT)

Thanks. Tau Ceti (talk) 10:10, 4 March 2015 (GMT)

Can you find me a Windows 7 Beta ISO, I haven't been able to find one anywhere? Post it to Google Drive and put the link on my talk page. callum90ish (talk) 3:24PM, 8th March 2015 (NZDT)

I don't use Google Drive, maybe Mediafire? Tau Ceti (talk) 09:26, 9 March 2015 (GMT)

Use -link removed- They have several Windows 7 beta ISOs. For the FTP login, username - oscollect, password - oscollect. OK? Tau Ceti (talk) 09:35, 9 March 2015 (GMT)

Regarding your contributions to "ClassicBeta" (no offence)[edit source]

I thing that, instead of contributing to such free hosted sites, you'd better contribute here instead. Even if BetaWiki seems to be quite ignored, contributing and creating other such wikis isn't going to be a solution: people create a newer wiki if the current is no longer edited, and when the new one is also no longer edited, they'll create a new one, so, eventually, there will be no result but many wikis instead. I learned this myself with LHwiki, because opening a new wiki doesn't solve anything.Plus, free hosting isn't a solution to host any website, it goes down in a matter of months, if not weeks. --Ovctvct (talk) 08:41, 27 May 2015 (BST)

Argh. But I would appreciate to help DiskingRound with the project, because he wants collaboration. I want to help him, even if everyone else ignored him. Anyway some more people will come and contribute on ClassicBeta. Tau Ceti (talk) 08:43, 27 May 2015 (BST)
But no one has ever come to contribute or will ever come to ClassicBeta, because people ignore free hosted websites, due to the fact they eventually go down.. I know what Hounsell and others said about ClassicBeta on BA forum, but I fully agree with them. --Ovctvct (talk) 08:46, 27 May 2015 (BST)
OK. I will ignore the site and it is bound to go down soon. Nothing will ever come of it, and DiskingRound is just doing this to boost his ego (like what User99672 said) so it will be a pointless waste of time. Tau Ceti (talk) 08:49, 27 May 2015 (BST)

About the BetaWiki fork[edit source]

Don't bother with it, keep editing here instead. There are many pages missing on that "fork" also. Also, I don't think staff members here would agree with it(don't ask, but hounsell promoted me to an admin again, I promised that I won't be doing the same crap I did before), nor do I. Aditionally, BillyHatcher2012 was blocked by AlphaBeta for low value/copipasting articles/whatever, and evading his IP bans. Also, there are a few users impersonating me here, that appear to be from China. I blocked them all but can you watch out for a while? They are annoying TBH. I can make you a staff member if you promise to take care of this wiki, because the other admins have left pretty much and we need someone to watch out. --Ovctvct (talk) 12:11, 5 March 2017 (GMT)

OK, that's good. I think we need someone who'll be here. Tau Ceti ~ Windows 10 in 640K! 09:43, 6 March 2017 (GMT)
Alright, you're a bureaucrat now, you can block users and delete pages. Watch out for vandals. --Ovctvct (talk) 18:03, 6 March 2017 (GMT)

About the new naming system[edit source]

It's not just about moving pages, you also have to modify them so they use the new infobox windows build template, e.g {{Infobox Windows build |version = 7 |arch = x86 etc))

Also, I suggest that,as a bureaucrat, you join our IRC channel, #betawiki, at server irc.ringoflightning.net, also make sure to register your username with the IRC server. --Ovctvct (talk) 11:48, 29 April 2017 (BST)

Good idea. Tau Ceti ~ Windows 10 in 640K! 13:02, 29 April 2017 (BST)
