Windows XP build 2498 is a build of Windows XP. The supposed Professional SKU of this build was shared on BetaArchive on 28 April 2011,[1] then it was referred to on 30 August 2018 as it turned out to be the Home Edition SKU instead.[2] The real ISO of the former SKU eventually surfaced on 24 October 2020.[3]
New features and changes[edit | edit source]
Home Edition SKU[edit | edit source]
To reflect the Home Edition SKU, the three progressing bars located on the boot screen were recolored to be in green instead of blue. Along with this, almost all references to the Personal SKU were replaced with Home Edition. The Personal text can still be seen on the watermark however.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
Installation[edit | edit source]
- The Home Edition SKU allows an upgrade to the Professional SKU of an earlier build. However, it is not recommended as bugs can be encountered during installation.
- The Windows XP Welcome Music (
title.wma
) does not play in the out-of-box experience due to corruption.
