New features and changes[edit | edit source]
Windows Media Center[edit | edit source]
The user interface of Windows Media Center has been more finalized. The windowed mode now runs in a widescreen (16:9) ratio rather than 4:3, the loading spinner animation more resembles the one from the mouse cursor and the Shutdown category has been merged into the Tasks one as a menu, while the Media only option has been moved to the end of Tasks.
Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]
- This build changes the first login message to "Preparing your desktop...".
- The Windows Experience Index check received an update.
- Language packs from the RTM can now be installed.
- Resuming from hibernation animation has been updated to be more similar to the RTM.
- WinSAT Aurora has been slightly updated, which now uses the aurora seen in the RTM release.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
Graphics driver[edit | edit source]
The default VGA graphics adapter is very buggy, often having the screen flicker through resolutions and cannot have resolutions higher than 800x600 pixels. However, the 1024x768 display is useable if upgrading from earlier builds.
Horizontal icon spacing[edit | edit source]
Icons do not have horizontal spacing by default.
Explorer[edit | edit source]
It is impossible to access CDs and DVDs through Explorer in this build, as Explorer assumes the disc is blank.
Installation[edit | edit source]
Upgrade[edit | edit source]
The wallpaper gets changed to img22 when upgrading from Windows XP, Windows Vista build 5435 or build 5461.
Windows Media Center[edit | edit source]
In the About page, the build number is mistakenly showing up in the Windows Vista line. The build lab remains being in the right line, yet with some free space to the beginning of it.
