Setup[edit | edit source]

  • The OOBE uses a new background.
  • Windows Experience Index is now tested after the OOBE.
  • When loading into setup, the "Windows is loading files..." has been changed to resemble the RTM build.

Command Prompt[edit | edit source]

  • Command Prompt received its final icon.
  • The copyright header has been rewritten, with the copyright date being updated from 1985–2005 to just 2006.

Windows Media Center[edit | edit source]

  • Windows Media Center received its final sounds, replacing the ones from Windows XP's Media Center.
  • The appearance of the "Welcome to Media Center" dialog on first launch has been updated.

Hibernation[edit | edit source]

A new animation will play when waking the computer from hibernation.

Windows Classic[edit | edit source]

The Windows Classic color schemes are broken.

Shutdown[edit | edit source]

When shutting down, the sound will only play for a quarter of a second.

Windows Mail[edit | edit source]

Windows Mail cannot be launched due to MSOE.dll failing to initialize.
