Windows Vista build 5231.2 is a pre-Beta 2 build of Windows Vista. It is similar to the original compile, but it contains an x64 architecture version in addition to x86. This build was released as the second CTP (Community Technology Preview) on 17 October 2005.
It is the last build of Windows Vista to use the Windows XP design for the Start menu, as well as the final build to use "Start" text and the white Windows flag on the Start button (if the Windows Classic theme isn't being used).
Bugs[edit | edit source]
Setup[edit | edit source]
The Starting installation...
text when launching setup on Windows appears to be distorted on higher resolutions such as 1920x1080.
Migration Wizard[edit | edit source]
The following bugs are internal known issues found in MIGWIZREADME.TXT
in the sources folder.
- Currently, only disconnected migration is supported.
- The Drive Exclusion page has no effect on the items to be migrated.
- To increase performance on machines with razzle environments, you can have the docs agent skip scanning all drives (which can take several minutes on some machines) by setting the environment variable
MIG_DOCS_MINSCAN=1
before running the wizard.
