Branding[edit | edit source]

The branding for the Standard and Datacenter Server SKUs have been updated to now refer to the operating system as "Windows Server Developer Preview".
Most references to its predecessor have been removed.

Server Manager[edit | edit source]

Navigation buttons have been redesigned to fit in with the Metro design language, and an updated splash screen largely reminiscent of the design seen in the RTM build has been added.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

The Aero and Aero Lite themes have been updated, and are now visually similar to the variants seen in the official Developer Preview build.
The background in the wordoku puzzle desktop wallpaper has been changed to a dark purple background, which features a set of colorful strands at the bottom of the image.
An early version of Internet Explorer 10 is now included, replacing Internet Explorer 9.
Help and Support Center received new in-app icons.

Fallback boot screen[edit | edit source]

The fallback boot screen (triggered by bcdedit /set {default} graphicsmodedisabled yes) has been made a black screen with blue blocks at the top left-corner. Also, appending the /sos parameter or enabling OS boot information in the System Configuration utility is no longer supported, and therefore the build will show the regular boot screen in safe mode.

Setup[edit | edit source]

Much like previous unredpilled builds of its client counterpart, the OOBE background is improperly displayed.

Redpill[edit | edit source]

The accent color that is applied has lighter shade than the actual one. Sometimes on the login screen, a proper accent color can be seen.
In the Server Core SKUs on the security options screen, the Ease of Access and Power buttons do not work.
