Windows NT 4.0 build 1141 is a build of Windows NT 4.0. The Server edition of this build was listed on the Fate 009 warez CD,[1] but was found in another warez source and shared on OSBetaArchive on 12 December 2015.[2] This build is the last to have the "Introducing Windows NT" tutorial program before it was replaced with WELCOME.EXE.

Once again, another NT beta. Hopefully this one is more stable than the
last one. Also, if you are new to NT, I would highly recommend
installing 3.51, not the 4.0 betas. NT 3.51 with the 'newshell'
(available from ftp.microsoft.com\bussys\nt\winnt-unsup-ed) is much more
stable. Also it appears many people had problems installing the last
release. You need to unarj all files into one directory (usually called
\i386) with the command arj x -v nts1141.a01 then FROM DOS, run winnt.
You cannot upgrade NT 3.51 to 4.0, nor would I recommend trying.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]
- The bitmap shown in the Settings tab of Display Properties has been changed to show the Explorer instead of the legacy Program Manager shell.
- This is the first build to include Desktop enhancements from Microsoft Plus! However, the Plus! icons included in
COOL.DLLare not present. - This build updates the window controls to drop their Chicago-esque appearance and to adopt the one from final Windows 95 instead.
- "Inbox" has been added to the desktop.
Control Panel[edit | edit source]
There are new applets seen in the RTM. However, their counterparts from NT 3.51 are still present, though some of them are not functional anymore.
Setup[edit | edit source]
- The setup background is no longer stretched on higher resolutions and instead centered like in Windows 95.
- The new Setup program has been enhanced and there is now a "Final Wizard Page", which is, just like the Welcome page, a placeholder. This is the first build to show the "Select Components" page, although with "Microsoft Exchange" as the only option.
- During final phase, the new Display Control Panel applet will launch.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
Selecting "Properties" in the right-button menu of My Computer does not do anything.
