Windows Longhorn build 4030 (main) is one of the last Milestone 5 builds of Windows Longhorn. On 23 January 2020, this build was listed on a thread by UX.Unleaked blog founder Grabberslasher to be released to BetaArchive's FTP server, and was released in the eleventh set of his 33 Longhorn/Vista builds on 3 February 2020 in the Home Edition and Professional SKUs, along with Windows Vista build 5808.
It was compiled several days before its Lab06_n
counterparts, which were respectively produced on 30 June 2003 and 2 July 2003. It is the earliest currently publicly available pre-reset build of Longhorn to feature the Home Edition SKU.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
The color depth is set to 16-bit by default, rather than 32-bit.
Desktop Compositing Engine[edit | edit source]
The desksrv.dll
implementation is incomplete, which results in the Desktop Composition Engine to not produce glass borders, with it instead downscaling windows and causing display glitches. sbctl.exe
has many parameters for controlling the DCE, although only the wmgstart
and wmgstop
parameters function correctly.
