Windows 98 SE build 2222A is the official Release Candidate 3 and RTM build of Windows 98 Second Edition, released to original equipment manufacturers on 5 May 1999.[1] It was subsequently scene-leaked by "Dr. Egypt" on the same day as part of a strongly-worded targeted attack against competing warez group Pirates with Attitudes (PWA), due to confusion about Microsoft's use of the build revision at the time (the version that PWA released has the same build number, but it was an earlier compile intended for testers that contained a timebomb).

Many issues with the first version of the operating system were addressed, including the 49.7-day limit and Y2K-incompliance (the latter of which was already previously fixed in a Y2K update from 1999 alongside the Service Pack 1 update for the original release).

New features include DirectX 6.1a, Internet Connection Sharing, Internet Explorer 5, NetMeeting 3.0, and Windows Media Player 6.1.
