Windows 8.1 build 9600.17238 is the official RTM build of Windows 8.1 Update 2, also known as the August Update, released on 12 August 2014[1]. A new Start menu and support for windowed Metro apps were planned to be implemented in this update. However, Microsoft decided to postpone the aforementioned features and later implement them in Windows 10.[2]

- Several new options for precision touchpads have been added to PC Settings.
- Windows Update in PC settings will now display when you most recently checked for updates and when updates were installed.
- Internet Explorer will now block out-of-date ActiveX controls from loading.
- An option to "Keep me signed in” when logging into SharePoint Online has been added.
- Support for Miracast Receivers.
- Support for the Russian Ruble currency.
