Windows 11 build 25997.1000 is an Insider Preview build of Germanium, the 24H2 development semester of Windows as a service. It was released to Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel on 15 November 2023, along with its server counterpart.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • A partially functional Refresh button has been added to the Wi-Fi section in Quick Settings for refreshing Wi-Fi network list.
  • Microsoft Teams (Work or School) contacts will show in the Share flyout if users signed in with a Microsoft Entra ID.

Settings[edit | edit source]

A new option has been added under Bluetooth & devices > Phone Link for disabling Phone Link all together. This change is only available to a subset of users.

Boot environment[edit | edit source]

The boot environment now checks for a new boolean BCD option 0x16000064; when set to true, an intermediate buffer is used when reading/writing block IO devices if the physical address of the passed in buffer does not fit into 32 bits.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue that was causing the 0x80004005 error when upgrading to latest Germanium builds.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing an increase in bugchecks after upgrading to build 25992.
  • Fixed an issue where the context menu in File Explorer as well as the command bar dropdowns might go transparent sometimes.
