Windows 11 build 25977 is a build of Windows 11 2024 Update. It was released to Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel on 18 October 2023, along with its server counterpart.
New features and changes[edit | edit source]
Shell[edit | edit source]
- The network icon in the system tray has been animated when an Internet connection is establishing, replacing the disconnected globe.
- The VPN toggle in Quick Settings has been updated to a split toggle for quickly turning on and off a single VPN.
Settings[edit | edit source]
- When viewing Wi-Fi password under the Wi-Fi properties in Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks or setting up a mobile hotspot in Network & Internet > Mobile hotspot, a QR code will be shown for easily sharing.
- The colored backplates from some app icons under Apps > Installed apps and System > System Components have been removed.
Input[edit | edit source]
Two new keyboard layouts based on German extended layout standards (E1 and E2) have been added.
Out-of-box experience[edit | edit source]
An "Install driver" button will appear under the Let's connect you to a network screen when booting into out-of-box experience without an Internet connection. Clicking it will open a Select Folder dialog box, allowing users to select and install the driver for their network adapter.
Task Manager[edit | edit source]
The performance when expanding the navigation pane has been improved.
Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]
- The Mail and Calendar app will not be installed by default after doing a clean install using the installation media. It was replaced by the Outlook progressive web app (included as an inbox app since build 29515), and will not be removed when upgrading from earlier builds.
- Support of Bluetooth Low Energy Audio specifications, initially announced during the Microsoft Build 2023 conference[1], has been rolled out.
- Support of access control options for clients has been implemented into SMB over QUIC.
Bugfixes[edit | edit source]
- Fixed an underlying issue believed to be the root cause of various games having issues launching (citing graphics issues) or changing resolution in build 25967.
- Fixed an issue where certain
.rarfiles would open blank or with an unexpected message saying there was insufficient memory to open the file.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
- Adjusting screen brightness may not work on some laptops.
- Using dictation in voice access may lead voice access to crash.
- The print queue may not be accessible.
- Text on highlighted items in Microsoft Management Console and some of its snap-ins may have a yellow color.
