Windows 11 build 25921 is the third Insider Preview and the first available server build of Gallium, the 24H1 development semester of Windows as a service. It was released to Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel on 4 August 2023, along with its server counterpart.
New features and changes[edit | edit source]
Shell[edit | edit source]
- The support of JPEG XR high dynamic range (HDR) wallpaper on HDR displays, previously available in build 25915, has been rolled out to all users.
- The redesigned preview tooltip when hovering over a file in the Start menu's Recommended section, initially implemented in build 25905, has been rolled out to users on AAD-joined devices.
- The redesigned Share flyout, initially implemented in build 23506, has been ported to this build.
Settings[edit | edit source]
- The updated icon for the Dynamic Lighting option under the Personalization page, initially implemented in build 23506, has been ported to this build.
- The "Spotlight activity" option under Privacy & security > Microphone, initially implemented in build 25905, has been removed.
- Several options for tuning intensity and color boost have been added to the color filters via Accessibility > Color Filters.
Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]
- Starting from this build, Cortana can be uninstalled manually.
- The asynchronous error-handling feature has been implemented to the DHCP client service, thus improving the response time for the
ipconfig /renew
command.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
- Adjusting screen brightness may not work on some laptops.
- The Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray on the taskbar may sometimes disappear.
- The icons on the desktop may appear blank in certain cases. Refreshing the desktop would resolve this issue.
