Windows 11 build 25217.1000 is the twenty-seventh Insider Preview and the twenty-first available client build of Copper, the 23H1 development semester of Windows as a service. It was released to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel on 6 October 2022, along with its server counterpart.

- The cloud suggestion and integrated search suggestion in Simplified Chinese IME have been improved to show the most relevant word and additional suggestions from Bing respectively in the candidate window. These changes are only available to a subset of users, but can be toggled on manually by enabling the

velocity ID. - The new Tamil Anjal keyboard for the Tamil language, initially introduced in build 25179, has been rolled out to all users.

- The ability to show a dot-style notification badge on the Start menu's user profile icon has been added. A new item specified to what certain actions need to be taken will be added to the user profile button's context menu. This feature is disabled by default, but can be toggled on manually by enabling the

The new touch keyboard dropdown menu under Settings > Time & language > Typing, initially introduced in build 25188, has been disabled by default. This feature can still be toggled on manually by enabling the 37007953

Fixed an issue where remote desktop on ARM64 devices was unexpectedly not using UDP and only TCP.
Tablet-optimized taskbar[edit | edit source]
- Fixed an issue that was causing the taskbar to sometimes collapse when it should be expanded if there are no running windows on the desktop.
- Fixed an issue that would occur when using the left or right edge gestures resulting in the Widgets or Notification Center respectively to overlap with or look truncated by the taskbar.

- Fixed an issue where when switching between windows, the entire window would flash black for a frame while rendering.
- Fixed an issue that was causing Miracast video quality to be very slow and stuttering despite having a solid Internet connection.

General[edit | edit source]
- The audio may stop working in certain cases.
- Several apps may crash on launch in certain cases.
Tablet-optimized taskbar[edit | edit source]
- The taskbar may sometimes flash when transitioning between desktop posture and tablet posture.
- The taskbar may take longer than expected to transition to the touch-optimized version when switching between desktop posture and tablet posture.
- The taskbar may sometimes stay stuck in the expanded state instead of dismissing to collapsed state when using the bottom right edge gesture to see Quick Settings.

- Various UI elements in apps may disappear and reappear repeatedly.
- If the system tray updates is enabled, dragging system tray icons may cause
explorer.exe
to crash. - The text cursor may appear white on white when hovering over text fields.
- On some locales, the default font used in several UI elements (such as the date and time on the taskbar) may change to regular Segoe UI instead of Segoe UI Variable.
Virtualization[edit | edit source]
- Users may experience a
UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR
bugcheck when booting Windows in VMware on a Hyper-V enabled host with 2 or more cores allocated. - The system may fail to boot in VMware with attached network adapters.
Widgets[edit | edit source]
- The Notification badge number may appear misaligned on the taskbar.
- In right-to-left display languages, the content may animate out of view before the Widgets board resizes when clicking to expanded view of the Widgets board.
Safe mode[edit | edit source]
- Quick Settings and date/time clock on the taskbar may be missing due to the
Capability Access Manager Service
service not running. - Clicking Bluetooth & devices and Personalization pages may crash the Settings app due to an overrun of a stack-based buffer
