Windows 11 build 22635.4291 is a build of Windows 11 2023 Update. It was released to Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel on 30 September 2024.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

File Explorer[edit | edit source]

Hovering on user name of any OneDrive file under the Home page and the Details pane will show a user persona card with profile information and quick contact buttons. This card is highly unstable and disabled by default, but can be activated manually by enabling the 45130483, 46702397, 48433719 and 51848093 velocity staging keys.

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • The ability to show smaller taskbar icons, which had been absent since the original release of Windows 11, has been re-implemented. It can be configured via the "Show smaller taskbar buttons" toggle switch under Personalization > Taskbar in the Settings app. This feature is also disabled by default, but can be activated manually by enabling the 29785184 and 48433719 velocity staging keys.
  • The Start menu's All apps list has been renamed to All list.

Settings[edit | edit source]

  • The Privacy & security > Recommendations & offers (perviously General) page, previously implemented in build 22635.3936, has been gradually rolled out. It can be activated manually by enabling the 49666228 and 48433719 velocity staging keys.
  • The new section under Personlization > Text input for configuring the Copilot key on keyboard, previously implemented in build 22635.4225, has been temporarily disabled to address some issues. It can still be activated manually by enabling the 52608608 velocity staging key.
  • The "Hand Off" feature, previously implemented in build 22635.4225, has been renamed to "Resume". This feature can be configured via the System > Resume page. It's also disabled by default, but can be activated manually by enabling the 49527529 velocity staging key.

Task Manager[edit | edit source]

  • The ability to show the disk drive interface next to the drive type under the Performance page, previously implemented in build 22635.4225, has been gradually rolled out. It can be activated manually by enabling the 51978387 velocity staging key.
  • The redesigned dialog for disconnecting the selected user, previously implemented in build 22635.4225, has been gradually rolled out. It can be activated manually by enabling the 53330962 velocity staging key.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed a few issues that were causing explorer.exe crashes, including one causing sporadic explorer.exe crashes when using Alt+Tab ↹.
  • Fixed an issue where clicking or tapping on a letter on Start menu's All apps list would break and not display correctly.
  • Fixed the issue that was causing Work Folders files to fail to sync when Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is turned on.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Task Manager to stop responding when switching from a high contrast theme to a normal theme.
  • Fixed inconsistent data between TCP_INFO_v1 and GetPerTcpConnectionEstats impacting the accuracy of TCP connection performance analysis tools.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

  • An unexpected amount of spacing between items may appear in Start menu's All list.
  • Live captions may fail to lanuch with the 0xc0000409 exception.
