Windows 10 build 18950 (rs_prerelease) is the twenty-second Insider Preview build of Windows 10 May 2020 Update. This build was released to Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring on 31 July 2019.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

  • Some improvements were made to the Japanese IME, such as fixing a bug where the focus inside the prediction candidate window wouldn’t move when using the key, improving the discoverability of key assignment settings, and updated the default assigned value of Ctrl+Space to be "None". This keyboard shortcut can still be used to toggle the IME on or off. This is done by changing the value through its setting.
  • General changes, improvements, and bug fixes listed in the official release announcement.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

  • Older versions of anti-cheat software for games can cause the PC to crash with a green screen of death.
  • Some Realtek SD card readers do not function correctly with this build.
  • Tamper Protection may be turned off in Windows Security after updating to this build. It can be turned back on after the update is complete.
  • On some occasions, the candidate selection in the prediction candidate window for the Japanese IME will not match with the composition string.

Hidden features[edit | edit source]

  • This build has the new Control Center and Notification Center design from builds 18945, 18946 and both compiles of 18947. To enable it, open Registry Editor and then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Center. Once there, create a DWORD value named UseLiteLayout. After you create it, set its value to 1.
  • Unlike in build 18947, the Control Center is functional.
