Windows 10 build 10036 was a candidate for release to Windows Insiders, however, due to a few major bugs that seriously affected usability, Microsoft decided that it would not be released. This build eventually leaked on 2015-03-14 to OSBetaArchive. This build is the first build to be either released or leaked publicly to include a semblance of transparency.

This build includes the new upgrade setup interface when upgrading from a previous build or Windows version, which would make its way to the RTM, although it says "Installing Windows" instead of "Upgrading Windows".

Bugs[edit | edit source]

  • The People, Mail, and Calendar apps will not open on this build.
  • In some cases, opening a folder on the Start Menu with sufficient items within it, and then closing it again, will cause Start to crash and fail to open again for several minutes.
