Ubuntu Cinnamon is a free and open source Linux distribution driven by the community. It uses the Cinnamon desktop environment that was developed by Linux Mint initially in 2011. The first release of the distribution was version 19.10 with the codename "Eoan Ermine". It was released on 4 December 2019.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
The Cinnamon environment was firstly introduced on 2011 in the Linux Mint 13 distribution. Ideas to make Ubuntu Cinnamon did not take a long to arrive, but even though people had these ideas, no one stepped up to make the first ever version of Ubuntu Cinnamon. Except in 2019 where a user named ItzSwirlz asked for info on the Cinnamon Ubuntu Flavor in Ubuntu Discourse and then posted the first version iso in SourceForge.[2]
