iPhone OS 2 is the second version of iPhone OS (iOS), which was released on 11 July 2008. It was announced on 9 June 2008 at WWDC. It is the first version of iOS to support the ability to download 3rd-party applications via the App Store.

App Store[edit | edit source]
The App Store has been added, which allows for 3rd party applications to be installed.
Camera and Photos[edit | edit source]
- Photos can now be saved from Mail and Safari.
- Photos taken in the Camera app are now geotagged.
- The ability to take screenshots has been added.
- SVG image support has been added.
Mail[edit | edit source]
- Added support for:
- BCC
- Microsoft Exchange accounts
- Microsoft Office and iWork attachments
- Multiple emails can now be deleted at once.
- The ability to select an outgoing email has been added.
Calendar[edit | edit source]
The Calendar app now supports multiple calendars.
Contacts[edit | edit source]
- Contacts can now be imported from a SIM card.
- The search functionality has been improved.
Maps[edit | edit source]
iPhone OS 2.2 adds support for Google Street View, as well as the ability to display the address of a dropped pin.
Calculator[edit | edit source]
A scientific calculator mode has been added, which can be accessed by rotating the device into landscape mode.
Language and input[edit | edit source]
- Added support for Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Polish, Dutch, Korean, Brazilian, and Portuguese languages.
- iPhone OS 2.2 adds Emoji support.[1]

- Wi-Fi can now be enabled while in Airplane Mode.
- WPA2 and 802.1X support has been added.
