Hearts is a card game that was bundled with Microsoft Windows from Windows 3.1 to Windows 7. The goal of the game is to avoid the heart and Queen of Spades cards by passing cards to each hand and playing in sequence in order to avoid scoring more points. The player wins if the player has the least amount of points if one player reaches 100 or more points.

Initial versions of the game featured networking support for multiplayer and was thus named The Microsoft Hearts Network to reflect this feature. This feature was dropped in the Windows XP version. For Windows Vista and Windows 7, the game was rewritten from the ground up, as with all card games and Minesweeper included in that version.

An Internet version of the game was also available on Windows Me and Windows XP. The servers for the online version were shut down on 31 July 2019.[1]
