MIDI Output[edit source]

Can someone add MIDI Output configurations on 86Box machines? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.184.98.250 (talkcontribs)

MIDI output configuration is wildly host-specific so it doesn't really make sense to put it into the recommendations. Just tinker around and see what works for you --Ryuzaki (talk | contribs) 11:04, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

Windows ME[edit source]

Windows Millenium also works pretty good on VMware, in opposite to W98, so if you don't know how to use 86Box you can try it on VMware, even VM Tools are supported. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.184.99.151 (talkcontribs)

it'll definitely be an unstable experience if the processor is like 2.5ghz or higher NaraInsider1694 (talk) 16:44, 14 October 2023 (UTC)

Last changes[edit source]

Sorry, but in my opinion user Wabbah destroyed some of configurations by his edits, especially for Windows 3.1 (VGA card?!). Can someone restore correct configurations? Spot57 (talk) 15:30, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

Windows XP Starter Edition[edit source]

I don't really understand why 86Box "is recommended for Windows XP editions aimed for low-end systems". For one thing, it doesn't matter for Windows FLP. Secondly, the 86Box configuration provided is pretty heavy for a host CPU with that Pentium II @ 266 and you can't expect the average reader to have a computer that maintains 100% speed. Thirdly, tricking Starter to work on better CPU isn't hard.

QEMU: -cpu pentium3

VirtualBox: VBoxManage modifyvm "VM name" --cpu-profile "Intel Pentium 4 3.00GHz"

VMware: as seen here https://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43306

Thus my question is: is that 86Box config really necessary? Lili (talk) 10:12, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

"Tricking Starter to work on better CPU isn't hard." Me who just knew that there is a way to bypass CPU in virtualbox: Phi Gameplay VN (talk) 12:19, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

Update Windows configurations[edit source]

Please update the 86box configurations for Windows betas, as some of those still have the older machine names and/or certain hardware are not compatible with those. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.200.37.234 (talkcontribs)
