Windows Vista build 5472 is a pre-RC1 build of Windows Vista, released to beta testers on 17 July 2006.

Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Certain applications such as Windows Media Center have received design updates.
  • The shutdown sound was reverted to the one found in Windows XP. This was changed back in the next build.
  • The Digital Identities feature was renamed to Windows Cardspace.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

Graphics driver[edit | edit source]

The default VGA graphics adapter is very buggy, often having the screen flicker through resolutions and cannot have resolutions higher than 800x600 pixels. However, if upgrading from a previous build, it is possible to get resolutions of 1024x768 and higher.

Branding[edit | edit source]

Like in build 5456, winver and System Properties incorrectly refer a "Service Pack 0 v."

Shutdown[edit | edit source]

When shutting down, the sound will only play for a quarter of a second.

Upgrade[edit | edit source]

The wallpaper gets changed to img22 when upgrading from Windows XP, Windows Vista build 5384 or build 5456. This bug persists until build 5840.16384.
