Windows Embedded Standard 2009 build 1500 is the official RTM build of Windows Embedded Standard 2009 based upon Windows XP SP3, which was released on 24 October 2008[1]. Although containing new features compared to Windows XP SP3 such as Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Media Player 11, they are optional and can only be added as additional items when building an image for this operating system. The Windows Explorer has been slightly modified in this build.
Setup and image building[edit | edit source]
This release of Microsoft Windows has a setup process similar to Windows XP Embedded. One must install the tools that comes with Windows Embedded Standard 2009 and then build an image with Target Designer. Component Designer may come into play as well for drivers and such. If an image is built correctly and is placed onto a separate partition away from the original install of Windows with the boot files configured, Windows Embedded Standard 2009 will then run through the First Boot Agent, which will only take up some time, depending on what features the user has chosen.
