Several screenshots of an unidentified Windows 8 build compiled 15 December 2011 were shown off by Windows news website WinUnleaked.tk. [1] Unlike other builds that weren't publicly released officially by Microsoft, this build does feature Metro apps (although PaintPlay was brought back from build 8102.101).
It’s currently unknown whether this build is in the 817x range due to the full covering of the build tag, only leaving the “For testing purposes only.” part remain. Based on the compilation date, which was a day after build 8172, it could either be the same build, higher, or lower; the build number is still unknown to this day. Judging by the "Windows 8 Beta" branding, it is possible that this build was compiled in a feature branch level.
Changes[edit | edit source]
- The Aero Lite theme has been changed.
- The PC Settings app icon has been reverted to the one from the Developer Preview instead of the newer variant from build 8172.
