Windows 11 build 25370 is an Insider Preview build of Zinc, the 23H2 development semester of Windows as a service. It was released to Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel on 22 May 2023.

The Enterprise LTSC SKU variant of this build (and its IoT counterparts) were showcased in an introductory overview video for the upcoming release of the Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 release.[1]

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

The ability to open the Search flyout when hovering over the search icon on the taskbar, initially introduced in build 25346, has been disabled.

Settings[edit | edit source]

  • A new "More adapter options" link has been added under Network & Internet > Advanced network settings for accessing advanced properties for network adapters and Internet properties.
  • The "Get the latest updates as soon as they are available" toggle under the Windows Update page, initially introduced in build 23424, has been backported to this build.
  • The support of creating and attaching virtual hard disks and ReFS developer volumes (aka Dev Drive) under System > Storage > Disks & volumes, initially introduced in build 25324, has been disabled.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

  • The support for vTPM in Hyper-V on Windows 11 in the ARM64 architecture has been added, thus makes it possible to upgrade guest ARM64 virtual machines to latest Insider Preview builds.
  • The support for bridging adapters via the netsh command line has been added.
  • Passpoint Wi-Fi networks has been updated to support enhanced connection performance, and a URL will be displayed in Quick Settings to provide information about the venue or event.
  • The WPA3 support has been added to the Phone Link instant hotspot feature.
  • This is the first known Windows 11 build that officially has LTSC SKUs (not available to the general public) according to a YouTube video published by Windows Champ on 30 May 2023.

Boot environment[edit | edit source]

The function to remove an element from in-memory boot settings now returns a boolean; TRUE if the element was present and did get removed, FALSE otherwise. This is used by a new baton drop mitigation: after copying the boot settings into the structure for a newly-loaded boot application to use, and the loaded Secure Boot Policy prohibits testsigning, the testsigning, nointegritychecks, avoidlowmemory and truncatememory elements are removed from that copy (if one of those was present, an entry is added to the boot status data log, which turns into an event log entry when NT is booted).
