Windows 11 build 25336.1000 is the seventeenth Insider Preview and the sixteenth available client build of Zinc, the 23H2 development semester of Windows as a service. It was released to Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel on 7 April 2023, along with Server build 25335 and build 23430.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

The ability to show the expanded Widgets entry point when the taskbar is left-aligned has been implemented. This feature is disabled by default, but can be toggled on manually by enabling the 43320599 velocity ID.

Settings[edit | edit source]

  • A new "Default graphics settings" option has been added under System > Display > Graphics to allow users to select a discrete graphics adapter as the default high performance GPU. This option is only available on devices with two or more discrete graphics adapters and without integrated graphics.
  • The ability to open System > Display > Advanced display via the ms-settings:advanceddisplay URI command has been implemented.
  • The performance of search within the Settings app has been improved.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

General[edit | edit source]

  • The system may take longer than expected to upgrade to this build in certain cases.
  • The screen may appear black for several minutes when upgrading to this build.
  • There is a handle leak in Task Manager. To prevent this from occurring, disable the velocity ID 35365030.

File Explorer[edit | edit source]

  • The access keys in the XAML context menu may appear inconsistently if no button is pressed. Pressing a button will cause them to reappear.
  • Clicking on the Share command may bring up the Windows share sheet (non-OneDrive) when the file recommendations feature is enabled.

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • Right-clicking a file or folder while pressing ⇧ Shift may not open the legacy context menu in certain cases.
  • Users may see the daily rotating search highlight for some time before getting the new Bing button back to the search box on the taskbar.

Settings[edit | edit source]

  • When adding a language via the Language & Region page, the installation progress may become hidden, and users may not see install completion for enhanced speech recognition.
  • The Language & Region page may not offer the necessary speech recognition language support for live captions for up to an hour after first login.

Live captions[edit | edit source]

  • The enhanced speech recognition support may not be installed correctly through the Language & Region page in the Settings app on ARM64 devices.
  • Captioning performance may be degraded in non-English languages and missing out-of-language filtering in non-English (United States) languages.

Safe mode[edit | edit source]

  • Quick Settings and date/time clock on the taskbar may be missing due to the Capability Access Manager Service service not running.
  • Clicking Bluetooth & devices and Personalization pages may crash the Settings app due to an overrun of a stack-based buffer 0xc0000409.

Updates[edit | edit source]

  • 25336.1010.rs_prerelease_flt.230403-1253 (KB5026292)
    • Released to the Canary Channel on 11 April 2023 (AMD64 and ARM64)
